The Los Angeles Police Department Winter Ski and snowboard Team was formed in the 1970s and was composed of a few members. As time went on, the Team grew larger and became more coordinated. Our Team Captain & Secretary, Mike & Ingrid Braun, are largely responsible for it's present day successfulness and strength. Mike & Ingrid have worked hard to bring the Team together and involve several sponsors, enabling the Team to ski and board on the State-of-the-art equipment.
The Team consists of approximately 50 skiers and snowboarders ranging in all age and levels of ability, from beginner to expert. We have a Team meeting at the beginning of the season and several training days at Mammoth Mountain. Again, setup for all levels of skiing and boarding ability, so everyone can fit in. Point System
Each year the Revolver and Athletic Club provides the Team with funds to assist with our events. The amount of the support is based upon our participation in the Award Dinner which is held in November. We use a point system to distribute the money to our team mates to off set the expenses. We have reconstructed the point system for the 2005/2006 season. The new system will be more rewarding to those who participate the most.
Mandatory attendance at the Team meeting/party.
2 points for attending the Sports Award Banquet.
1 point for each training day at Mammoth Mountain.
There will be no bonus point this year, so the maximum amount of points is 6. We will reimburse entry fees for races and training day fees. You will not be reimbursed if you do not participate in at least one race event. You cannot earn more money than you paid out. Payment will be made after the last race is completed.
